Infiniti G37 to sell alongside its Q50 replacement until 2015 model year

Infiniti G37 Infiniti
Infiniti feels the G37 has plenty of life left in it, and since it uses the old G model index customers won't be confused.
Infiniti has announced that the G37 sedan, which has been with us for a while, will continue alongside the all-new Q50 sedan until the 2015 model year. The 2014 Q50, ostensibly the G37's replacement, will go on sale later this week, though to keep things rolling along Infiniti will be slashing prices on the two versions of the G37 which will continue on: the G37 Journey and the G37 Sedan AWD.
The rear wheel drive Infiniti G37 will now start at $33,455, down from $38,225, and the all-wheel drive G37 will now stat at $35,055. This reduced pricing will take effect August 6. We liked our 2012 G37 sedan when we had it in our fleet, finding it not only to be a sleeker and cheaper alternative to the likes of the BMW 3-series and the Mercedes-Benz C-class, but likening it to the sedan version of the Nissan 370Z with which it shares its powertrain.
On keeping the two models on sale side by side, Infiniti Americas Vice President Ben Poore said "It creates room to strategically offer the repositioned G37 at the lower end of the near luxury segment in addition to the higher-positioned Q50. The two vehicles aim at different market segments and allow us to serve different customer needs."

The all-new 2014 Q50 is packed with technology, and offers a compelling alternative to other premium compact sedans.
The all-new Q50 was first shown at the New York Auto Show back in January, though at the time it wasn't made known that it would continue alongside the G37. Packed with all sorts of technology such as automated distance control and variable steering feel, the Q50 is meant to occupy the entry level niche in Infiniti's lineup.
The all-new Q50 will be offered with either a 328 horsepower 3.7-liter V6 or as a 360 net horsepower 3.5-liter hybrid. The Q50 3.7-liter model will start at $37,605, while the Hybrid model will start at $44,855 for the Hybrid Premium model.
