British Telecom has made a bid to purchase not one, but two carriers operating in the country: EE and O2. O2 was part of British Telecom back in 2001, but was sold and is now owned by Spain's Telefonica. It said there are currently "highly preliminary talks" regarding the offer. The other UK carrier, EE, is a joint venture between French Telecom and Deutsche Telecom. However, they haven't made a comment about the bid just yet. British Telecom's highly optimistic attempt at acquiring two active UK carriers is likely to face some stiff regulator resistance. The company will make an announcement once it has more reliable indication from the stakeholders of both EE and O2 that a deal is likely. Since the talks are in their starting stage, there's no information regarding the financial outlook of the deal. Source |...
