It's that time of year again - the new iPhone generation is upon us, and while the foldable iPhone Duo stole the spotlight this year, the iPhone 18 Pro series is still hard to ignore. So while we are waiting on the iPhone Duo to arrive, we are kickstarting the iPhone 18 Pro review process. iPhone 18 Pro vs. 18 Pro Max Aside from the new hero Burgundy color, the 18 Pro also comes in Glacier, Black and Silver colorways. The one we have right here is the Glacier paint job. A subtle change to the appearance is the smaller Dynamic Island, which can now display up to three live...

The new itel A300C is tough, cheap and has a 6,000mAh battery

itel spent weeks teasing its new A300C model and it is finally go time. This is a rugged-but-affordable Android 16 Go Edition phone – it costs ₹11,000 and comes with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. That isn’t much, of course, but the phone supports microSD cards up to 2TB, so you can add as much storage as you like. The phone has a MIL-STD-810H certification (it has been drop tested). However, it lacks an official dust and water resistance rating. On the plus side, itel offers a free screen replacement for the first 100 days after you buy the phone. The itel A300C has a 6.56” 90Hz...

Motorola's Signature, its current flagship smartphone, came out in January, and now the company is almost ready to reveal its successor, the Signature 27. Motorola started teasing the upcoming device earlier this month, and today it has announced its unveiling date: September 22. That is also when Qualcomm is expected to unveil the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 and the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro chipsets, during its Snapdragon Summit in Hawaii. Motorola specifically calls out the Snapdragon Summit, so it looks like the Signature 27 using one of those chips is a given. There’s more to...

Honor 700 Pro to have a rear screen

Xiaomi's 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max popularized the rear screen idea last year, and the company is getting ready to launch their successors later this month. Meanwhile, Honor has apparently been inspired by Xiaomi, and it's now working on at least one device with a rear screen of its own. This will be part of the Honor 700 series, according to a new rumor from Digital Chat Station on Weibo. The phone in question (most likely the Honor 700 Pro) will have a 6.57-inch flat front screen with "1.5K" resolution and symmetrical ultra-narrow bezels, a 200MP main camera (which was rumored before), and a...

It's now the Xiaomi 18 Pro Max's turn to surface in Geekbench

Yesterday, the upcoming Xiaomi 18 Pro was seemingly spotted in the Geekbench online database, and today it's the turn of its bigger sibling, the Xiaomi 18 Pro Max, to surface in the same place. This one allegedly has the model number M610BB. As you can see in the screenshot below, it managed a single-core score of 2,831 and a multi-core score of 8,843 in Geekbench 7 for Android. As always, we caution you against taking such numbers too seriously, as they are results from pre-production prototypes. The Xiaomi 18 Pro Max is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro chipset, just...

Xiaomi 18 Pro runs Geekbench confirming its chipset

Yesterday Xiaomi finally started to officially tease the upcoming 18 Pro series, revealing that the Xiaomi 18 Pro and Xiaomi 18 Pro Max will be unveiled later this month (an exact date is yet to be announced). Today a Xiaomi device powered by the upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro SoC was spotted in the Geekbench online database with the model number M154FF. That is a very new way for Xiaomi to do model numbers, by the way, as the company has so far been using a system that starts with the year and month. We're not saying the listing is fake, just that it's got a surprising model...

The iPhone 18 Pro Max is the fastest-charging iPhone ever

Apple's iPhone 18 Pro Max will charge faster than any other iPhone ever. According to a new post by Ice Universe on X, the device goes from 0 to 50% charge in just 15 minutes. That is in fact what Apple claimed during the announcement. [#InlinePriceWidget,14716,1#] The iPhone 18 Pro Max takes just 10 minutes to reach 34%, and reports 100% charge after 55 minutes. However, it only stops charging after 76 minutes. In our review of its predecessor, we noted that it reached 38% after 15 minutes, and displayed 100% after 72 minutes. SK Hynix reportedly wants Intel to make its memory chips in the US

According to a new report from Reuters, SK Hynix is now in talks with Intel about a potential deal that would see the Korean company manufacture memory chips in the US for the first time. There are apparently two ways this can go: either SK Hynix will lease part of Intel's chip factory in Ohio, or it could form a joint venture with Intel as well as some unnamed "major cloud firms that are keen to lock in memory chip supplies". This all comes from "people familiar with the matter", so nothing is confirmed or official yet. A deal with SK Hynix would help Intel get out of its current not...

Xiaomi HyperOS 4 beta is now available

In mid-August Xiaomi announced HyperOS 4 with a very unsurprising glass look, and then last week it started recruiting eager beta testers for HyperOS 4 for its global devices. The recruitment seems to have been successful, as today the company has revealed that the first beta build of HyperOS 4 is now rolling out to those in the beta program. For now, there are only three supported devices: the Xiaomi 17 Ultra, the Xiaomi 17, and the Leica Leitzphone by Xiaomi. If you have one of these and have managed to get into the beta program, go to Settings > About phone and tap the version number to...

iPhone Duo could be very hard to buy this year, analyst thinks

Following his earlier note about the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max pre-orders, analyst Jeff Pu is back with a new prediction, this time about the iPhone Duo. Specifically, he says its availability through the end of the year will be more limited than estimated before. Pu now thinks only 6 million iPhone Duo units will be produced in 2026, down from a 7 million previous estimate. The reason for this isn't a lack of perceived demand, but constraints relating to the production of the phone's hinge. We have heard many times before that it's a very complex component to make, which may...

More details about the Samsung Galaxy S27 Ultra's cameras emerge

Back in late August, a rumor claimed Samsung would equip the Galaxy S27 Ultra with a new telephoto camera with 4x optical zoom. This would have used a 1/1.9" type sensor. Earlier this week, however, another source vehemently denied this, claiming that the S27 Ultra would have the exact same 5x optical zoom telephoto camera as its predecessor. Today a new, usually reliable source has chimed in on the controversy as well. According to Roland Quandt, the Galaxy S27 Ultra will use a 50MP 5x optical zoom telephoto camera with a Sony sensor. So it's not going to be 4x optical zoom, which...

Analyst Jeff Pu is not impressed with iPhone 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max pre-orders

Analyst Jeff Pu has been keeping track of iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max wait times for the various configurations. Based on that data, Pu says that the pre-order wait times are “lukewarm”. The stats are as follows. The most popular 256GB and 512GB models are showing 3-4 week wait times for most colors. Pricier 1TB and 2TB models are available immediately if you want a Silver phone, with 1-2 weeks wait times for Black and Glacier models and 3-4 weeks for the Burgundy version. It’s easy to tell that the new Burgundy color is by far the most popular option, while the Silver color...

Oppo F35 and F35 Pro renders leak, here's when they're coming

Last week Oppo started teasing the upcoming F35 series in India, confirming that it's going to be launching soon. Today, a new leak purports to show us both devices in some leaked renders. We are assuming that the F35 Pro is on top here, as that would neatly fit with previous rumors claiming it would be a rebranded A7 Pro Max, which has the exact same design. Speaking of design, the F35 looks a lot like the A7 Pro. If these upcoming devices are indeed rebranded A7-series phones, then expect the F35 to have a 6.57-inch 1080x2372 AMOLED display with 120Hz refresh rate and 1,400-nit...

According to a new report from Korea today, Qualcomm is still in talks with Samsung about the latter joining TSMC in making the former's upcoming flagship Snapdragon chips. Qualcomm is expected to announce the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 and the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro later this month, and a lot of prior rumors have suggested that TSMC will be the only foundry making them. However, today's new report claims Qualcomm is still open to a dual-source setup with TSMC and Samsung. This is made possible by the fact that Samsung's 2nm yields have improved lately, although they're still trailing...
