Infinix Note Edge in for review

Infinix has entered the trendy slim space with the freshly unveiled Infinix Note Edge. Now, this isn't one of those sub-6mm slim phones, but at 7.2mm, it's still thinner than the majority of phones out there. Infinix says this is the first phone to feature MediaTek's Dimensity 7100 5G chip. The Infinix Note Edge has a now-retro design with sloping, curving panels on either side of a thin frame. The phone's corners are also very rounded, a trend we've seen very little of in recent years. Infinix touts its "ripple texture" finish, which it says is silk-like to the touch. The rear...

Infinix Note Edge is now official with Dimensity 7100, 7.2mm thickness

The Infinix Note Edge that we teased a few days ago is now fully official. The phone is 7.2mm thick, weighs 185g, and is powered by MediaTek's recently announced Dimensity 7100 SoC, paired with up to 8GB of RAM. There's a curved 6.78-inch screen with "1.5K" resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, 2,800Hz touch sampling rate, symmetrical ultra-narrow 1.87mm bezels, 4,500-nit peak brightness, and Gorilla Glass 7i on top, dual JBL stereo speakers, and a 6,500 mAh battery or a 6,150 mAh battery (the capacity is market-dependent). Infinix promises it will retain at least 80% of its initial capacity...

Weekly poll: would you buy one of the Oppo Reno15 models and which one?

Oppo unveiled the Reno15 series for global markets on January 1, then launched it in India a week later including a Pro Mini model. Except that this Pro Mini (which is for India) corresponds to the global Pro model. The Pro model in India is instead the global Pro Max model. Oppo, please... Messy product names aside, these are some really cool phones. The Oppo Reno15 Pro Max – aka Reno15 Pro in India – combines a large 6.78” display (10-bit OLED with 1272p+ resolution and 120Hz refresh rate) with a 6,500mAh battery (80W wired, 50W wireless charging). It is powered by the Dimensity 8450...

Weekly poll results: the Motorola Signature is promising, but price and availability are a concern

Results from last week’s poll show that the Motorola Signature has a lot of potential, but there are many ways Motorola could screw it up and it already has to some extent. Here’s what the people have to say. First, thin is nice, but a bigger battery is better. The consensus was that a battery with 5,200mAh capacity is small in a phone with a 6.8” display. Maybe Apple, Samsung and Google would disagree, but concerns over battery life were a common refrain in the comments. We heard a lot about market availability too – the phone will launch in Europe and India soon, but much of the world...

Oppo Pad 5 Matte Display Edition unboxing

Android tablets are slowly but surely becoming great in the shadow of the market-dominant iPad. Example, the Oppo Pad 5 Matte Display Edition, also known as the Oppo Pad Air5. This may very well be all the tablet you ever need. It has a large anti-glare display, a long-lasting battery, and solid performance. Let's touch on that last bit - the tablet has what Oppo calls a 48-month fluency protection, meaning it's TÜV SÜD certified to deliver smooth and responsive performance for at least 4 years. Okay. The Oppo Pad 5 Matte Display Edition The Oppo Pad 5 Matte Display Edition...

One more brand is set to launch a smartphone with a telephoto extender

When we talk about smartphones with telephoto extender lenses, the Oppo Find X9 Pro and the vivo X300 Pro come to mind, as they were launched not too long ago. These smartphones will be joined by the Magic8 RSR Porsche Design, making Honor the latest brand to join the telephoto extender club. Honor took to Weibo to announce that the Magic8 RSR Porsche Design will support an add-on telephoto extender lens, which will be a part of the camera kit. The image shared by Honor, included below, reveals that the telephoto extender will extend the native zoom by 2.35x. Honor also posted...

Deals: OnePlus 15R now available, vivo X300 Pro paired with a free Imaging Grip

The prices of some newly-introduced models are falling pretty rapidly, but the newcomers have to contend with older models, which have also gotten quite cheap. The OnePlus 15R shows up as “coming soon” on Amazon, though it should switch to “available” soon. This year’s R-model brings a massive battery – 7,400mAh vs. 6,000mAh on the 13R – along with improved water resistance (IP68/IP69K vs. IP65). It also features the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 (non-Elite), up from the two-year-old Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. There have been some downgrades, however. First, the telephoto camera is gone, while the main...

Infinix GT 50 Pro seemingly runs Geekbench too

Not long ago we saw the upcoming Honor Magic8 Pro Air in the Geekbench online database, but there's another unannounced phone that's recently run the benchmark as well. We're talking about the Infinix handset with the model number X6891, which is rumored to be the GT 50 Pro. This will apparently be the successor to the GT 30 Pro which launched in May-June of last year (perhaps Infinix is skipping the number 40 due to tetraphobia in some Asian markets). The GT 50 Pro managed a single-core score of 1,612 and a multi-core score of 6,686 in Geekbench 6.3 for Android. It's powered by the...

Realme 16 emerges in retailer listings

The Realme 16 Pro was unveiled earlier this month and its non-Pro has now appeared in a pair of listings on a Vietnamese online retailer. The device is shown in black and white colors, and the listings are complete with a detailed spec sheet. Realme 16 in black and white Realme 16 is built around a 6.57-inch AMOLED display with FHD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. The display is rated at 4,500 nits peak brightness and features AGC DT-Star D+ tempered glass. The phone’s frame and back panel are made from plastic, and it features IP66, IP68, IP69, and IP69K ingress...

The Samsung Galaxy S26+ reportedly missed out on a display upgrade

Samsung made the decision to cancel the Galaxy S26 Edge pretty late in the development process and it replaced it with the Galaxy S26+. However, since work on the S26+ started late, the company is now scrambling to get it done. Insiders speaking to Korean publication The Elec have revealed some last-minute changes. Apparently, Samsung was initially planning on taking the new display panel that it had developed for the S26 Edge and using it on the Plus model. Then it decided against that, which left it with no time for a replacement part, so the S26+ will use an almost identical panel to...

Honor Magic8 Pro Air runs Geekbench confirming its chipset

Honor is launching the Magic8 Pro Air on January 19, and ahead of that a prototype now seems to have run Geekbench 6.5. As always, this has resulted in the device being listed in the benchmark's online database. The phone has the model number LDY-AN00. It managed a single-core score of 2,969 and a multi-core score of 9,892, though as usual we have to caution you against taking such results from prototypes too seriously. The handset runs Android 16, and it's powered by the Dimensity 9500 SoC paired with 16GB of RAM (though of course more memory options could be offered). Honor has...

Google launches Personal Intelligence for Gemini

Google today introduced Personal Intelligence for Gemini. This is an opt-in feature. If you turn it on, it securely connects information from apps like Gmail, YouTube, Google Search, and Google Photos, which Gemini can then use in its conversations with you. This is rolling out over the next week to eligible Google AI Pro and AI Ultra subscribers in the US. It works across the web, Android, and iOS. If you are in the US you can see if you've got it by going to the Gemini app or website, then to Settings > Personal Intelligence. That's where you can select which apps you want connected...

Samsung Internet for Windows is now widely available, no more restrictions

Back in October, Samsung launched its web browser called Internet on Windows. This was a pretty important development, as Samsung Internet had before that point been relegated to Android devices. Samsung Internet for Windows was a beta release and only available in Korea and the US. That changes today. Samsung Internet for Windows is now available to everyone regardless of locale (even though the official website may still claim it's only available in Korea and the US, the Download button works everywhere). It is still a beta release, that hasn't changed. The wider availability does hint...

Motorola Moto G (2026) in for review

This is the Moto G (2026) and came out in early November, and has been on sale since last month. It's very similar to its predecessor, with only slight changes to the specs sheet. We'll call them quality of life type upgrades - you get twice the base storage at 128GB and a slightly bigger 5,200mAh battery. Oh, and the selfie camera has doubled from a 16MP unit to a 32MP one with a brighter f/2.2 lens. The rest of the specs are nearly identical - a 6.7-inch IPS LCD with 1,000 nits of brightness, and a 120Hz refresh rate. Even the chipset is the same 6nm Dimensity 6300 with 4GB of...

Nothing Phone (4a) series to have improved storage, possibly higher prices

Nothing CEO Carl Pei today confirmed that "some products", launching before the end of March, will have UFS 3.1 storage. This quite obviously refers to the Phone (4a) series, though which exact device(s) will be blessed with UFS 3.1 storage and which will miss out remains to be seen. Last year, the Nothing Phone (3a) and Nothing Phone (3a) Pro launched in early March, which is why we assume that their successors are what Pei is talking about. Those devices use UFS 2.2 storage, a decision which Nothing explained at the time as not being "about cutting costs, but about putting resources...

Realme's 10,000mAh phone could launch this month

Last year, Realme confirmed plans to launch a smartphone featuring a 10,000mAh battery. Meanwhile, last month, a device bearing the model number RMX5107 surfaced online with a 10,001mAh cell. The same model has now been spotted on the BIS website. As per a tipster, the upcoming Realme phone would be part of the P series and could launch later this month. The phone is expected to debut in India since it was listed on the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) site. Realme has yet to release a smartphone with an 8,000mAh or larger battery. It recently unveiled the Realme P4x in India with a...

OnePlus Open 2 was supposed to come this year but got cancelled, new rumor says

The original OnePlus Open came out in 2023, and it's been crickets ever since. 2024 passed with no Open 2, 2025 too, but apparently the brand was planning to finally come out with its next foldable smartphone this year. However, that's not happening anymore. The OnePlus Open 2 has been cancelled (again?). That is, of course, if we choose to believe the latest rumor on the matter, the source of which claims the Open 2 was scheduled to launch around July and be "the big summer release" from OnePlus. Well, not anymore. OnePlus Open The phone was allegedly already in "advanced testing...
