Huawei Y9 (2019) sells in 10 million units just in China

Huawei might be having trouble selling its phones in the Western World, but it is performing more than impressive at home. A senior executive has just boasted on Weibo that the Enjoy 9 Plus smartphone sold in 10 million units and the company is now ceasing production to prepare for the Enjoy 10 Plus. The impressive milestone is only for the Chinese market - it doesn't account for the units, sold under the global name Huawei Y9 (2019). The device with model numbers JKM-AL00 and JKM-TL00 brings plenty of impressive specs for $200 - Kirin 710 chipset, a tall screen with Full Hd+...

Facebook too may hide the Like count from your posts

Back in July, Instagram started hiding the like counts from the posts because it wants your followers to "focus on the photos and videos you share, not on how many likes they get". It seems Instagram has received positive feedback, hence, its parent Facebook may also start hiding the Like counts from the posts. This information comes to us from reverse engineering expert Jane Wong who spotted this change in the source code of Facebook's Android app. Facebook's Like-hiding feature works similarly to Instagram's - only the author of the post can see the total Likes while others can...

Motorola One Zoom inches closer to launch, appears on Geekbench

Motorola is having an announcement at IFA this week and we expect to see the One Zoom with four cameras and a huge rectangular setup on the back. The phone already appeared in multiple leaks across Europe, but now we know a bit more its performance, thanks to its arrival on Geekbench. The device named "motorola motorola one zoom" reached scores of 2,381 for a single core and 6,551 for multiple cores - that is pretty much the same as any other Snapdragon 675 smartphone, like the Samsung Galaxy A70 or the Redmi Note 7 Pro. The listing also reveals the unit was equipped with 4 GB RAM...

vivo NEX 3 poses with specs and photos on TENAA

The vivo NEX 3 is expected to arrive this month, and while we are waiting for an official launch date, the device already popped up on TENAA with images and specs. The phone is pretty much what we expected and this listing is confirming most of the rumors - Snapdragon 855 Plus chipset, 64 MP camera, and up to 12 GB RAM and 512 GB storage. vivo NEX 3 The Snapdragon 855 Plus is the only chipset on the market right now with a CPU core that goes as fast as 2.96 GHz, so it's quite easy to confirm the SoC. RAM could be also 8 GB, while other memory storages are 128 GB and 256...

Today, the company has added a fourth one - Galaxy A90 5G - making it the first premium mid-range smartphone from the South Korean tech giant that supports the next-gen network. Huawei Watch GT 2 leaks with smaller bezels, bigger battery

The Huawei Watch GT made its debut last October alongside the Mate 20 series, and it looks like this year the Chinese company is preparing a follow-up that will most likely be unveiled on September 19 at the Mate 30 event - that is, if it doesn't see the light of day at a separate IFA presentation this week. Ladies and gentlemen, meet the Huawei Watch GT 2, seen here in all its glory in leaked official press renders. The GT 2 doesn't try to reinvent the wheel, instead it brings a few solid, if minor, improvements compared to its predecessor. Huawei Watch GT 2 Classic It...

Four Xiaomi phones will use Samsung's 108 MP camera in the near future

Last month Samsung announced the highest-res smartphone camera sensor ever, the mammoth 1/1.33" 108MP ISOCELL Bright HMX. Xiaomi will be the first company to use this in a shipping device, and so far a lot of rumors pointed towards the Mi Mix 4 being said device, when it launches presumably in October (that would be one year removed from its predecessor's announcement). However, a new investigation by the enterprising folks over at XDA Developers has revealed that the Chinese company is in fact working on four different smartphones that will feature the 108MP rear camera. These are...

OnePlus 7 and 7 Pro receive Android Q Developer Preview 5

OnePlus is now seeding the latest Developer Preview 5 for its latest phones - the OnePlus 7 and 7 Pro. As the name states, it's a developer preview version of Android Q so it's not stable enough for day to day use. The changelog states that the new version improves the system functions and stability. It also adds OnePlus' full-screen gesture navigation. The whole build is based on Google's Android 10 Beta 6. The known issues, for now, are mainly compatibility problems with some apps, including Google Pay. Users also report system lag and stability issues from time to...

Galaxy M30s hands-on video published early, shows an extra camera sensor

Samsung has started the promo campaign for the Galaxy M30s, but the phone isn't quite ready for hands-on videos. But that didn't stop this particular video from hitting YouTube - a quick 5 minute tour through the phone. Interestingly, the redesigned triple camera on the back seems to have an extra sensor - Laser autofocus, perhaps (it's certainly not a 3D ToF sensor like the big Galaxys have). You can see it at around 3:10 in the video (we also have a screenshot below). This triple camera will use a 48MP sensor, quite an improvement over the 13MP sensor in the vanilla Galaxy M30....

Samsung Galaxy A20s gets certified by TENAA

Samsung is making another push in the entry-level market with several "s" updates in the Galaxy A and M lines. The latest one will be the Galaxy A20s which recently bagged certification honors from China's TENAA agency. The device bearing the SM-A2070 model number will come with a 6.49-inch Infinity-V display with a waterdrop notch for the selfie cam. Visually, the upcoming A20s looks quite similar to the Galaxy M30 which was released back in March. Sasmung Galaxy A20s profile The back will feature a triple camera setup alongside a fingerprint reader and an LED flash. The TENAA...

Huawei P30 Pro is getting two new colors too - Misty Lavender and Mystic Blue

It looks like the Huawei P30 Pro will be getting new colors at IFA too - Misty Lavender and Mystic Blue. Previously, Huawei patented two new colors for the smaller Huawei P30 - two dual tone paint jobs, including a new take on the "panda" color scheme. Several online stores have empty listings for the P30 Pro for both colors (such as this one or this one). Unfortunately, there are no images yet. Will the two new options be gradients, dual tone paint jobs or something else? We'll have to wait until IFA to find out, that's usually when Huawei refreshes the options of its P-series (and...

Oppo A9 2020 to arrive with Snapdragon 665 and four cameras

Oppo recently introduced its new Reno lineup with four cameras, but now another series is also getting the quad-cam treatment. The Oppo A9 2020 appeared on the Facebook page of the Vietnamese division of the company and it looks intriguing - four shooters with the main being 48 MP, 5,000 mAh battery and 8 GB RAM. The phone is expected to have 6.5" display and we are hearing it might have an HD+ screen, although with such specs, a 1080p resolution is more believable. It should be an LCD, since the fingerprint scanner is on the back, below the camera setup. A separate leak...

Samsung Galaxy M30s coming September 18 with massive 6,000 mAh battery

We've been seeing quite a few leaks surrounding the upcoming Samsung Galaxy M30s lately and now we have a launch date to look forward to. Starting September 18, the device will be available on Amazon India as an exclusive and its key feature will be a gigantic 6,000 mAh battery. Previously an Android Enterprise listing revealed that the device will come with a 6.4-inch display Super AMOLED display, 4GB RAM and 64 or 128GB storage. Thanks to a Geekbench test we know the device will run on the Exynos 9610 chipset but other rumors suggest we might see the all-new Exynos 9611...

Oppo Reno2 5G appears on TENAA with periscope zoom lens

The Oppo Reno 10x zoom didn't get a successor last week when Oppo unveiled three Reno2 phones. The new flagship seems to be working its way through TENAA, however, or at least its 5G model is. As a reminder, the original Oppo Reno 5G added a Qualcomm X50 5G modem to the 10x zoom hardware. It's not clear if the Reno2 flagship will be split into 4G and 5G versions, however. The Oppo Reno2 5G has a quad camera like its siblings, though the third one from top is clearly a periscope module (notice the telltale square lens). This will give it proper optical zoom - unfortunately, TENAA is yet to...

Realme Q will be water resistant, probably MIL-STD-810G certified as well

The leaked photos of the Realme Q and its retail box didn't tell the whole story - this will be better than just a rebadged Realme 5 Pro. Official teaser posters show that the phone will have a more rugged exterior while keeping the same Snapdragon 712 chipset and 48MP camera as the Pro. The Realme Q promises to survive the 100°C water boiling tests that you may have seen on YouTube. This also entails standard water and dust resistance "beyond the price segment". The Realme Q will be water and drop resistant (IP68 and MIL-STD-810G, perhaps?) The other key spec revealed in the...

Oppo VP teases premium Reno phone with 90Hz screen, maybe 10x zoom successor

The next big thing in mobile displays seems to be high refresh rates. Oppo VP Brian Shen took to Weibo to tease a 90Hz display for the next Oppo Reno phone, which will also sport Super VOOC charging. Oppo announced three Reno2 phones last week, but they were mid-rangers using the standard 20W VOOC. Notably, there was no successor to the Oppo Reno 10x zoom. This new Reno with its 90Hz screen and Super VOOC sounds premium enough to be a successor to the 10x. ZTE's nubia sub-brand has a head start. It's teasing the Red Magic 3S, which will have a 90Hz display just like the Red Magic 3....

vivo NEX 3 full specs leaked, to arrive with SD855 Plus

We are eagerly awaiting vivo and the NEX 3 to arrive this month with 5G capabilities and a waterfall screen with extremely curved edges. However, specs were scarce, until now - a resourceful leakster on Weibo revealed the full specs sheet of the upcoming device. The phone will have a 64 MP triple camera setup, huge screen, and Snapdragon 855 Plus. Interestingly enough, the 5G variant has the same specs (aside from the 5G modem) down to the size and weight, with only a minor difference of 1 gram, which will be practically unnoticeable due to its 218 g total weight. vivo NEX 3 and...

Weekly poll: Redmi Note 8 and Note 8 Pro up their game, but is it enough?

For years now Xiaomi's Redmi Note series has been a leader in the value-for-money race, but in recent times they've faced some tough competition. To fight back, the company is introducing a proper Pro model and upping the camera count. The Redmi Note 8 Pro costs 40% more than the vanilla model and here's what it has to offer. It brings a larger screen, 6.53" vs. 6.3", and a larger battery, 4,500mAh vs. 4,000mAh. Both have 1080p+ screens and 18W fast charging. Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro The MediaTek Helio G90T chipset is a big deal. It only has two "big" cores, but they are...

September is only now starting, but the rate of smartphone announcements these days will almost make you believe we are in the middle of the Fall tech craze. This time around it was Redmi's turn to bring exciting new phones and its latest 8 and 8 Pro immediately took the top two spots in our chart. In third we have the Samsung Galaxy A50, which is arguably the most consistent phone in the past few months. Xiaomi Mi A3 only returned to the chart last week, but it's already at number 4, suggesting that it may stay for longer this time. The Samsung Galaxy Note10+ lost another...
