Top 10 trending phones of week 35

Apple confirmed the announcement date for its iPhone 17 series and the specs page of the iPhone 17 Pro Max immediately became the most searched in our database. It pushed the Redmi Note 15 Pro+ to second, while the Samsung Galaxy A17 gained a couple of spots to complete the podium. [#InlinePriceWidget, 13987, 1#] The Samsung Galaxy A56 retained its fourth spot as the Google Pixel 10 Pro in fifth, made it four different makers in the top 5. The Galaxy S25 Ultra came in sixth, followed by the Pixel 10 Pro XL. The vivo V60's popularity was also on the rise, ranking eighth, ahead...

Weekly poll: which of the three Redmi Note 15 models would you have?

Is it just us or did Xiaomi get stingy with the cameras on the latest Redmi Note series? The vanilla model and two Pros were unveiled earlier this week in China – what do you think about them? Redmi Note 15 series The Redmi Note 15 has a 50MP camera with a teeny-tiny 1/2.88” sensor and a 2MP depth sensor on the back – that’s it. To be fair, that is in line with what the Redmi Note 14 had in China, but the global model packed a 108MP main and an 8MP ultra-wide on the back. Anyway, this model has a 6.77” 120Hz 12-bit OLED display on the front and is powered by the Snapdragon 6...

Weekly poll results: Pixel 10 and 10 Pro score high, 10 Pro XL not so much, Pro Fold in trouble

Last week’s poll shows that the four Pixel 10 models will go on different trajectories – and not all of them are pointed towards success. A broad view of the series shows that price is a concern – Google didn’t raise the prices compared to the 9-series, but many people have trouble justifying the cost. Even though availability is still limited to only select markets, this didn’t prove to be a huge issue. Google’s battery woes (most visible in the a-series) have given it a bad reputation. Worse, the news that Pixel 10 phones will start to gradually restrict battery capacity and...

The update has firmware version F956BXXU2ZYHB and requires a download of about 930MB. It comes with the September 2025 Android security patch and fixes some bugs. You can check the screenshot below for more details. Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6 One UI 8 Beta 2 update's changelog This beta update for the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6 is currently seeding in India, but the rollout should expand to other regions...

Deals: Samsung Galaxy S25 series, S24 FE discounted, OnePlus 13 and 13R also on sale

On Thursday next week, Samsung will unveil the Galaxy S25 FE and the new Galaxy Tab S11 flagship slates. There are no official details for the S25 FE yet, but we’ve seen leaks and we can guess that it will be an evolution of last year’s S24 FE with a new chipset. Speaking of the Galaxy S24 FE, it started at $650 for the base 8/128GB model and we can expect the S25 FE to cost the same or thereabouts – plus some pre-order perks, of course (perhaps the new Galaxy Buds3 FE). Of course, the old S24 FE no longer costs as much as it did back then – you can grab one for $460 right now. But should...

Huawei tops global smartwatch shipments in Q2 2025

Huawei claimed the top spot in global smartwatch shipments in Q2 2025, according to Counterpoint Research. The brand also surpassed Apple’s global market share in terms of smartwatch shipments during the same quarter. The global smartwatch market, which was in decline since Q1 2024, finally saw an 8 percent YoY growth. The China market played a major role in the recovery thanks to increased demand. As per the report, Huawei saw a 52 percent growth in shipments and attained a 21 percent shipments market share. Xiaomi saw a 38 percent increase in shipments, whereas another Chinese...

TCL NxtPaper 60 Ultra 5G listed ahead of official IFA debut

TCL is getting ready to unveil a new smartphone at IFA in Berlin in the next few days, it seems. The device, called NxtPaper 60 Ultra 5G, has now been listed by Amazon Germany ahead of the official announcement. The listing tells us that the device has a 7.2-inch FHD+ NxtPaper screen with 120Hz refresh rate, 12GB of RAM, 256GB of storage, and a "long lasting battery" that unfortunately isn't detailed any further. In the box you only get a USB-C cable, no charger. The phone runs Android 15, disappointingly since Android 16 was released by Google in June. Amazon is going to offer the...

Motorola Edge 60 Neo, G06, and G06 Power official renders leak

Motorola's Edge 60 family is apparently still missing one member - the Edge 60 Neo. This is seemingly coming soon, as official-looking renders showing it have been leaked today. There are no specs to go with these unfortunately, the only thing that's clear from the images is that its design is fully in line with the rest of the series. Hopefully more details will be outed soon. Motorola Edge 60 Neo leaked renders The oft-rumored Moto G06 has also made an appearance, smiling for the camera in its own set of official-looking renders. Moto G06 leaked...

Samsung's Exynos 2600 runs Geekbench again with improved scores

Back in July, Samsung's Exynos 2600 chipset was spotted in the Geekbench online database with some less than impressive results - a 2,155 single-core score and a 7,788 multi-core score. Today the chip has run the benchmark again, with much improved scores, and ones that finally live up to its flagship level. This time, it managed a 3,309 single-core score and an 11,256 multi-core score, so Samsung is definitely tweaking things for the better, seeing as how these results are close to Apple's M3 and beat Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite. The Exynos 2600's second benchmark score shows a...

Samsung Galaxy S25 FE leaks again in all colors

Samsung is finally unveiling the Galaxy S25 FE on September 4 alongside the Galaxy Tab S11 and S11 Ultra. There is however plenty of time left for more leaks, and today we get a new one uncovering another round of official images and marketing materials. These show the device in all of its colors: Navy, Jetblack, White, and Icyblue. Navy is deemed to be the 'hero color' for this model, so expect to see it the most in Samsung's upcoming promotional campaigns for the Galaxy S25 FE. AI will be a big focus of the company's official materials, of course, with Circle to Search being...

WhatsApp launches AI-powered Writing Help

WhatsApp is launching Writing Help. This is an AI feature that will, as the name implies, help you compose your messages. It will suggest text for you in various styles - professional, funny, or supportive. You can of course either select any suggestion or ignore it. To use this, when writing a message in any one-on-one or group chat, tap the new pencil icon. Writing Help is built on Private Processing technology, which "allows you to leverage Meta AI to generate a response without Meta or WhatsApp ever reading your message or the suggested re-writes", the company promises. WhatsApp...

Google Pixel 10 in for review

Google has begun shipping the first Pixel 10 pre-orders, and we've got the Pixel 10 in for review! Ours is the Indigo, and it's the loveliest shade of blue. Unsurprisingly, the Pixel 10 ships in a recycled paper box with nothing more than a USB-C cable. What is a bit surprising is the cameras. Google made a bold choice to incorporate a zoom camera in its base Pixel this year, and we're all for it! The 10.8MP 1/3.2-inch sensor (112mm, f/3.1, 5x) isn't as good, on paper, as the 48MP 1/2.55-inch (113mm, f/2.8, 5x) telephoto on the Pixel 10 Pro and Pro XL, but it's more than a welcome...

iPhone shipments will help the smartphone market grow this year, IDC predicts

The smartphone market will grow 1% in 2025 compared to 2024, IDC now predicts, and this growth will be driven by iPhone shipments, which are expected to be up 3.9% year-on-year (YoY). IDC expects the total number of smartphone shipments to reach 1.24 billion this year. The 1% growth prediction is an improvement from the analyst house's previous forecast of 0.6%, and the difference seems to be more or less entirely down to iPhones being expected to sell better. Healthy replacement demand will push growth into 2026, when the market is predicted to ship 1.2% more units than this year....

Samsung announces a September 4 Galaxy Event for a new Galaxy S25 smartphone and 'premium AI tablets'

Samsung has announced a Galaxy Event which will take place on September 4. It will be held virtually and streamed live on Samsung's website and YouTube channel at 9:30 AM UTC. Samsung said it will unveil the "newest member of the Galaxy S25 family" and "premium AI tablets" during this event, suggesting that the Korean brand will introduce the long-rumored Galaxy S25 FE, Galaxy Tab S11, and Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra on September 4. Furthermore, Samsung announced that it will hold a press conference at IFA 2025 in Berlin, Germany, which kicks off on September 5. While Samsung hasn't...

Some Nothing Phone (3) in-store demo units were showing fake camera samples

Nothing has landed itself in hot water – due to an oversight, according to company co-founder Akis Evangelidis. Here’s what happened: in-store demo units of the Nothing Phone (3) had pre-loaded sample images with the note “Judge for yourself. Here’s what our community has captured with Phone (3).” One small problem – those images weren’t captured with the Phone (3). And they weren’t taken by community members either for that matter. It was quickly discovered that the images in question come from stock photo marketplace Stills: person by the window, a full glass, rounded headlight, spiral...

LG is pushing Apple to use the iPad Pro's Tandem OLED tech in future iPhones

Apple's newest iPad Pros are using Tandem OLED display panels provided primarily by LG Display, and the Korean company has been trying to convince Apple to take the same tech and put it into future iPhones. It hasn't succeeded thus far, but according to a new report, Apple might incorporate Tandem OLED panels in the 2028 iPhones (so presumably the iPhone 20 family - or will that be XX?). No decision has been made by Apple so far, but of course LG would like the Cupertino company to choose this tech, since that would mean it would either be the sole supplier for displays for the...

Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra's battery capacity has just been confirmed through a certification

Samsung's upcoming Galaxy S26 Ultra may have a huge camera island, according to the latest rumor from a few hours ago, but unfortunately the same cannot be said about its battery. While there have been a few rumors hoping for at least a 10% increase in capacity from the S25 Ultra's 5,000 mAh to 5,500 mAh, other rumors shot down the idea and they were apparently right. According to a new certification by China's Quality Certification Center, the S26 Ultra's battery has a rated capacity of 4,855 mAh. That's identical to the S25 Ultra's battery, which features an advertised typical...

iPhone 17 Pro reverse wireless charging probably isn't happening

Yesterday a rumor (in Chinese) claimed the upcoming iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max would get reverse wireless charging support, in a first for any Apple smartphone ever. Don't take out the champagne just yet, though. Google just launched the Pixel 10 family with Qi2 wireless charging with built-in magnets - this is essentially the same tech that Apple uses under the MagSafe brand, since Apple practically open-sourced it a few years back in a bid to get it to be the industry standard, which it now is. So, it's the same thing but under a different name, and yet Google had to leave out...

Samsung Galaxy S25 FE gets listed in Europe, full specs and official images outed

The Galaxy S25 FE still isn't official but it's been leaking like crazy over the past few weeks, and today we have what seems to be a premature listing of the device online by MediaMarkt in Portugal. The listing unfortunately doesn't come with a price, but does confirm the phone's specs. It has a 6.7-inch 1080x2340 Dynamic AMOLED 2X screen with 120 Hz refresh rate and Gorilla Glass Victus+ on top, the Exynos 2400 chipset at the helm, 8GB of RAM, and 128GB of storage - though more storage options should be available. The handset boasts a 50 MP main camera with OIS, a 12 MP ultrawide,...

Samsung pokes fun at iPhones for not folding

Samsung has a new ad out on its social media accounts. It's a short one and it's all about poking fun at iPhones for not being foldable. Take a look: From "no shirt" to "new shirt" with #GalaxyAI on #GalaxyZFold7.Unfold what’s possible: https://t.co/I3fOJvDBYH pic.twitter.com/1HTRb5Jrsz— Samsung Mobile US (@SamsungMobileUS) August 25, 2025 Sure, this will age badly in a year or so when Apple does eventually get around to releasing its first folding smartphone (which is rumored to use a Samsung-made folding display, to make things even funnier), but until then the Korean company gets to...

Samsung wins an award for next-gen cooling tech

Samsung's next-generation Peltier cooling technology, co-developed with the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory, has received a 2025 R&D 100 award, which is apparently often referred to as the Nobel Prize of Engineering and the Oscars of Innovation. The award is handed out by R&D World Magazine and recognizes the world's 100 most innovative technologies each year. The Peltier cooling tech was first unveiled earlier this year in a publication in the science journal Nature Communications. Samsung engineers worked with Dr. Rama Venkatasubramanian's thermoelectrics research...

Google will make Android's Quick Share work with iPhones

Google and Samsung launched the unified Quick Share on Android last year, and now it seems like the search giant is busy making it compatible with iPhones... somehow. A teardown of the latest Google Play Services beta app has revealed this fact, actually confirming an initial report from almost a year ago. Clearly then, it's taking some time, but it's still coming. And when the functionality does arrive, here's a screen you'll see on your Android smartphone when attempting to share something with an iPhone while not being signed into your Google account: So, interestingly, it seems...

Samsung brings One UI to your home appliances

Samsung announced today that the company is unifying all of its smart products under the One UI software. That includes devices such as washing machines and refrigerators, not just smart home products. Similar to Huawei and its Harmony OS. The Korean tech giant aims to improve the way you interact with its products, provide a familiar experience and bring new features. Additionally, Samsung promises 7 years of software updates for Wi-Fi-enabled devices launched in 2024. One UI on smartphones, tablets, and smartwatches, and some of its features, will transfer over to your kitchen...

Gurman: Apple working on three major iPhone redesigns

The iPhone has looked pretty much the same since the iPhone 12, but that might be about to change soon. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple will finally be bringing some major design changes to the iPhone lineup. In his Power On newsletter, Gurman reports that Apple has planned three years of major iPhone redesigns starting with the iPhone 17 Air that is expected to launch next month. The slim Air model is rumored to replace the iPhone 16 Plus variant. The iPhone 17 Air is said to offer a single rear camera and feature Apple’s first in-house modem. It will offer a smaller...

Top 10 trending phones of week 34

Two of the most popular smartphone lineups got their latest additions this week as Google unveiled the Pixel 10 series, while Xiaomi gave us the first three members of the Redmi Note 15 family. Understandably, the trending chart is barely recognizable, with an influx of new names. The Redmi Note 15 Pro+ ended up on top, while the Pixel 10 Pro got the silver medal. The Redmi Note 15 Pro completed the brand-new podium, compared to last week. [#InlinePriceWidget, 13987, 1#] The Samsung Galaxy A56 and Galaxy A17 are the best-positioned of the few remaining representatives of the old...

Weekly poll results: the Redmi 15 series is too low end to incite any interest

We live in strange times – prices of old hardware are going up instead of down. This puts affordable devices in a tough spot as hitting their price points becomes quite a challenge. The Redmi 15 series is a good example of that – in last week’s poll we asked you whether you had an interest in any of the three models and the responses are less than positive. The predominant opinion is that these are too low end and that you can get more for your money with other models. Starting with the Redmi 15 5G, this one has the best chance – some would get it for themselves, others would recommend...

Oppo F31, F31 Pro, and F31 Pro+ are coming, main specs leak

Oppo is apparently preparing a new line of smartphones for launch in India. It will comprise three models: the F31, F31 Pro, and F31 Pro+. Today on X a tipster has seemingly revealed their main specs, so let's dive right in. The F31 is allegedly powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 6300 SoC, paired with a 7,000 mAh battery with support for 80W wired charging. The F31 Pro keeps the same battery capacity and charging spec, but switches up the chipset to the Dimensity 7300. Finally, the Pro+ model is powered by the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 SoC instead, paired with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of...

Oppo A6 5G shows up on TENAA

An unannounced Oppo phone was spotted on TENAA getting its certification under the PLS120 model name. This will most likely be the Oppo A6 5G. Its specs look pretty similar to those of the Reno 14F 5G, but there are some differences. The TENAA document mentions a 6.57-inch AMOLED display with a 1080 x 2372 pixel resolution and 1073.74 million color depth. The chipset is an unnamed octa-core part with a 2.4GHz rated clock speed, so it might not actually be the Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 found inside the Reno 14F and Reno 13F. It is paired with either 8GB or 12GB of RAM and 128GB, 256GB or...

The ultra-affordable Itel Zeno 20 announced with a 6.6-inch display

Itel has just announced its new budget-oriented Zeno 20 smartphone, which is a direct successor to the Itel Zeno 10 from earlier this year. The most notable feature is its price, as the phone is asking INR 5,999 or the equivalent of just under $70. Despite its price, the phone has all the basics covered. The Zeno 20 is built around a 6.6-inch IPS LCD panel with HD+ resolution and supports up to 90Hz refresh rate. The device runs on the Unisoc Tiger T7100 chipset and is paired with either 3 or 4GB of RAM and 64GB or 128GB internal storage, respectively. The storage can be expanded using...

Tecno Spark Slim is headed to India with its very thin profile, here's how much it will cost

Back in February at MWC, Tecno first presented its Spark Slim concept phone, which was just 5.75mm thick, in a bid to preempt Samsung's Galaxy S25 Edge and the iPhone 17 Air. However, Tecno's device still hasn't launched, while the S25 Edge is official. That, however, will change soon. Tecno is now apparently planning to bring its slimmest phone to date to India, though it's unclear if it will be using the Spark Slim name or a different one (we'll still call it Spark Slim in this article for simplicity's sake). Tecno Spark Slim concept The phone is going to cost around INR 80,000,...

Google Pixel 10 series will support WhatsApp voice and video calls via satellite

Google unveiled the Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, Pixel 10 Pro XL, and Pixel 10 Pro Fold a couple of days ago, but it seemingly forgot to announce a first-ever feature, which it only got to today. Namely, that these phones will be the first to offer support for placing WhatsApp voice and video calls via satellite connectivity. This feature was announced today, and it will start working on August 28, as you can see in the X post below. #Pixel10 has you covered on and off the grid 📍 Pixel devices will be the first to offer voice and video calls on @WhatsApp over a satellite network starting...

Specs for Oppo's upcoming Find X9 Pro started leaking back in July, and today we have a purported full list of them. The phone is said to sport a 6.78-inch flat OLED screen with "1.5K" resolution and 120 Hz refresh rate, and the MediaTek Dimensity 9500 SoC at the helm paired with up to 16GB of RAM and up to 512GB of storage. On the rear will be a 50 MP main camera using Sony's Lytia LYT-828 sensor, a 50 MP ultrawide using Samsung's ISOCELL JN5 sensor, and a 200 MP periscope telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom using Samsung's ISOCELL HP5 sensor. For selfies there will be another 50...

Honor Power 2 screen details leak along with its expected release timeframe

The Honor Power launched in April, and we've since heard that the brand is already working on its successor, the Power 2. This device would take things up another notch in battery capacity - whereas the Power has an 8,000 mAh cell, its successor is rumored to boast a whopping 10,000 mAh battery. It's going to be powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 8500 SoC, as revealed earlier this month. Today a new rumor out of China tells us to expect it to arrive in the first half of next year. And also, that it will have a 6.79-inch LTPS OLED screen with "1.5K" resolution. That's a very, very...

So you can ask about getting a dinner reservation, including with multiple constraints and preferences (like party size, date,...

Google smart home speaker with Gemini detailed

During its presentation yesterday, when it announced the Pixel 10 family along with the Pixel Watch 4 and Pixel Buds 2a, Google slipped in an image of an unreleased smart home speaker. Today a new leak gives us some details about it. First off, it's real, it's in development, and it will be launching at some point in the future. It will unsurprisingly be powered by Gemini. It will be offered in bright red, light green, black, and white (or Porcelain in Google parlance - the light green could be branded Jade and the black would be Obsidian if Google sticks with the names it's been using for...

RedMagic 11 will boast a world first

The RedMagic 11 is coming later this year, and today in China some details about it have been outed. The phone is going to be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 chipset, which Qualcomm is announcing in September. It will boast an upgraded built-in cooling fan, which will allow it to have an IP68 dust and water resistance rating. The combination of an active fan and an IP rating was pioneered last month by the Oppo K13 Turbo and K13 Turbo Pro, but those two are only water resistant. The RedMagic 11 will be the first ever smartphone to have an active cooling fan as well as both water...

Leaked images of the Samsung Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra show a smaller notch

The Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra had a dual front-facing camera – as did the Tab S9 Ultra and Tab S10 Ultra. That’s cool and all, but the wide notch they caused was not ideal. The upcoming Samsung Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra will go halfway towards fixing the issue – it will only have a single camera on the front. Due to thin bezels, that camera will still live on a notch, but it will be less obtrusive as you can see in the images below. The notch, which will have a semicircular design, will eat a tiny fraction of the roomy 14.6” OLED display. Leaked images of the Samsung Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra...

Amazon is switching its Fire tablets to Android, report claims

Amazon's long-running line of Fire-branded tablets is going to go through some significant changes, according to a new report. The company is allegedly planning to move away from its own Fire OS (which is a fork of Android) and actually use Android proper. The first Fire tablet to run Android will arrive next year, and will cost $400, which is a much higher price point than what we're used to seeing Fire tablets go for. The switch to Android has apparently been a multiyear project for Amazon, and it comes as a consequence of the retailer basically hearing too many complaints from...

No one is using the iPhone Camera Control and Apple will drop it, sketchy rumor claims

The Camera Control (don't call it a button) was triumphantly unveiled by Apple last year alongside the iPhone 16 family. It was an important part of the launch presentation, and even got its own ads. However, it seems like not many people are actually using it - at least that's what a new rumor on Weibo claims. Do however note that this information doesn't come from a source that has any sort of track record, so accuracy isn't a given. Anyway, the tipster in question claims Apple has found that almost no one uses the Camera Control. Thus, the iPhone 17 generation will be the last...

Stable One UI 8 is just around the corner, Galaxy S25 series receives a fifth update

Almost three weeks after the release of One UI 8 beta 4, Samsung is now seeding the fifth, and quite possibly final, beta software to the Galaxy S25 series. Of course, we are just speculating, but it's safe to assume it's one of the last releases. One UI 8 beta 5 for Galaxy S25 changelog The changelog is almost entirely about bug fixes and optimizations, which is another reason why we think that this is probably the final update before the stable release. Samsung is probably done with implementing new features, so it's now squashing bugs to make the software ready for the...

Google Pixel 10 Pro XL now spotted in the Geekbench database

Yesterday, a Reddit user uploaded a shot purportedly showing the unannounced Google Pixel 10 Pro XL's AnTuTu score next to the Pixel 9 Pro XL's. The next-gen phone managed a better score overall, but with some weird misses, most notably in the GPU department. Now, the same user has seemingly run Geekbench 6 on the same two devices, and you can see the results below. The Pixel 10 Pro XL manages a single-core score of 2,296 and a multi-core score of 6,203, versus its predecessor's 1,889 and 4,247, respectively. It is thus a massive improvement, especially in the multi-core score -...

Apple's entire iPhone 17 family to be made in India for the US market from the beginning

For a while now, Apple has been diligently working towards reducing its manufacturing dependence on China, and it looks like this is finally going to pay off in a big way. According to a new report, the iPhone 17 family will also be made in India from the beginning - in fact, production has already started ahead of the rumored early September unveiling. Leaked image showing iPhone 17 family dummy units The devices it will sell in the US will be sourced from India, in order to avoid the US government's new tariffs on Chinese-made goods. To achieve this, Apple has expanded iPhone...

vivo is already teasing the Y500
