Samsung Galaxy S25 in for review
The Samsung Galaxy S25 is easily the go-to compact Android phone to get. Yes, you can find small phones with better camera systems - Xiaomi's 15 and vivo's X200 Pro mini come to mind - but those aren't as readily available and we'd argue that they won't be to everyone's liking. After years of dominating the smartphone market, Samsung feels comfortable to users, an advantage it shares only with the iPhone, which will make the Galaxy S25 an easy choice for the person looking for a new compact Android flagship. There are no surprises in the retail package. The Galaxy S25 ships with a...
Samsung's Exynos 2500 chip to debut in the second half of 2025
With the Samsung Galaxy S25 series out and about without any trace of Exynos 2500, some were quick to assume that we won't be getting an Exynos-powered Samsung flagship this year. However, a confirmation that the company is working on the chipset comes from an unlikely place - Samsung's earnings report. In an earnings call aimed at investors, the Samsung System LSI department shared some info regarding the Exynos 2500. The report says the Korean tech giant is working on refining the flagship SoC and wants to "secure design wins for mobile models scheduled for release in H2...
Samsung Galaxy A36 and A56 repairability scores emerge ahead of launch
The yet to be released Samsung Galaxy A36 and Galaxy A56 appeared in a set of French repairability indices posted by Samsung France. This development is similar to last year when the predecessors for both phones were also listed by Samsung France ahead of their launch. Galaxy A36 repairability score Unsurprisingly, both phones earned similar repairability scores of 8.4/10. The score for the Galaxy A36 is identical to its predecessor, while the upcoming Galaxy A56 gets a 0.1-point reduction in its final score compared to the Galaxy A55. The accompanying table suggests that some...

Realme GT 7 Pro gets a new software update
Realme has released a new software update for the GT 7 Pro. The update has firmware version RMX5011_15.0.0.200(EX01) and requires a download of 1.35GB. Despite that download size, the update doesn't bring any new features to the smartphone. You only get system improvements and bug fixes for known issues. It's also worth mentioning that this update is seeding for the Realme GT 7 Pro, having model code RMX5011. If you own one and haven't received an update notification yet, you can check for the update manually by navigating to the phone's Settings > System & updates > Software update...
Honor Pad X9a is on the way, certification reveals
Honor is working on a successor to the low-end Pad X8a which it launched back in August. This will unsurprisingly be the Honor Pad X9a, and it will be offered in the UAE as it's just been certified for sale over there by TDRA. Of course, the device is likely to be available in many more international markets. TDRA also certified the upcoming Honor Pad V9 recently. The X9a that passed through the TDRA's process was Wi-Fi-only and had the model number ELN2-W29. Unfortunately, there are no spec details revealed by the certification. Still, you shouldn't expect this to be a high-end...
Galaxy Z Fold7 to have Snapdragon worldwide, RAM/storage versions also leak for the Flip7
A couple of days ago a rumor tipped the pricing for the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Z Flip7 and Galaxy Z Fold7, and spoiler alert - it will be the same as for their predecessors. Whether that's good news or bad news depends on your perspective, of course - on one hand, price hikes have been looming a lot in recent years with all the inflation, on the other hand, we've been promised cheaper foldables and that's never happened. Today the same source brings us the rumored memory and storage versions for Samsung's next foldable duo, along with an intriguing detail regarding the Fold7: this will...

vivo T4x 5G and Y59 5G are on their way
vivo is working on two new smartphones for the Indian market, the T4x 5G and the Y59 5G. Both of these have been certified for sale in India by BIS, the former with the model number V2437 and the latter with the model number V2443. With the BIS certification in tow, the launch of both devices is expected to happen in the next few weeks. Unfortunately, the certification doesn't reveal any details about them. While we don't have any more information about these, for context do note that the T3x started at INR 13,499 when it launched in April of last year. It came with a 6.72-inch...
Here's the Google Pixel 9a's exact release date
The Google Pixel 9a has long been rumored to arrive earlier in the year than its predecessors, with the launch said to happen around mid-March. Today a new leak gives us the exact release date, along with the date on which Google will start taking pre-orders for its next affordable Pixel smartphone. So, pre-orders will allegedly start on March 19, and the phone will start shipping on March 26 - which is also when it will become available in stores. Nothing Phone (3a) hands-on image leaks along with details about the Nothing Phone (3a) Pro
Nothing is launching something on March 4, the company recently announced. Well, two somethings if we go by today's leaks: the Nothing Phone (3a) and Nothing Phone (3a) Pro. The Plus is gone after just one generation, it seems. The Nothing Phone (3a) is purportedly pictured below in a heavy-duty case that's meant to protect its design from prying eyes. It can't, however, hide the fact that this will be the first Nothing handset with three rear cameras. According to another rumor from yesterday, it has a 6.8-inch FHD+ AMOLED screen with 120 Hz refresh rate, the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3...

India won't get the Poco F7 Pro and Poco F7 Ultra
Poco's top-tier F series is due for a refresh this year, and it will, for the first time, be made up of three devices - the F7, the F7 Pro, and the F7 Ultra. However, if you're in India, unfortunately you'll only be getting the 'standard' model, according to a new rumor from a tipster on X. It's unclear why this is set to happen, but there might be a silver lining - a 'special edition' F7 that will be coming to India at some point in the future. Poco F6 and Poco F6 Pro Smartphone brands playing such geographical availability games is nothing new of course, but this is taking things...

Infinix made the Smart 9 HD official back in November, and already released it in some markets a month later. Now the phone has finally been launched in India. It will become available on February 4 at 12 noon local time. The recommended price is INR 6,699, but when you factor in bank offers you'll actually be able to buy it for INR 6,199. The handset has a 6.7-inch 720x1600 LCD screen with 90 Hz refresh rate and 500-nit peak brightness, the MediaTek Helio G50 SoC at the helm paired with 3GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 64GB of eMMC 5.1 expandable storage, a 13 MP main camera, an 8 MP selfie...
Samsung Galaxy S25 phones are the first to support some new Qi charging features
The new Samsung Galaxy S25 family doesn't impress with many meaningful upgrades, but even the little ones are welcome, such as the Qi 2.1 wireless charging support. As the version number implies, the changes are incremental. There's also no boost in wireless charging speed—the S25 Ultra goes up to 25W, while the other two are capped at 15W. It's the same as before. The most meaningful change is the support for magnetic wireless charging accessories. Another neat new feature is the added Automatic Alignment Profile (AAP) Power Transmitters. This feature is mainly car-centric, as...

The iQOO Neo 10R has now been officially confirmed by Nipun Marya, CEO of iQOO India, following a cryptic teaser from a couple of days ago. The phone is once again rumored to be...
Google Pixel 9a will be more expensive than its predecessor in one version
Google's Pixel 9a should arrive in mid-March, and ahead of that we now have a leak that gives us detailed pricing for both versions of the device. There is, as the saying goes, some good news and some bad news. Let's start with the good. The entry-level model with 128GB of storage will cost $499, just like the Pixel 8a did last year. And now the bad news. The 256GB version will be $599, which is $40 more expensive than what the Pixel 8a's 256GB variant launched at. The new pricing structure is in line with what Google started doing with the launch of the Pixel 9 family in August,...
Apple is working on a visionOS version for smart glasses
Apple's Vision Pro headset has been a flop, according to the latest report from Bloomberg's Mark Gurman. One reason is its price, unsurprisingly, the other one being "its cumbersome design". So Apple is now looking at the future and the next big thing, and apparently smart glasses are it. Thus, the company is said to be currently working on a version of visionOS that's meant for smart glasses. It makes sense to use the same OS that powers the Vision Pro, but the bad news is that Apple smart glasses are apparently still three years away, or even more. Apple allegedly wanted to...
Meta AI chatbot gets better at remembering things you said, and is more personal
Meta has an AI chatbot called - you're not going to believe this - Meta AI. And it's getting smarter. Meta has announced that the chatbot has received a memory boost, meaning it can now remember more details you share with it in one-on-one WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger chats. Its memory is said to "help it personalize future responses so they're more useful and relevant to you". You can tell it to remember things about you (what you like to do, for example), and it also picks up on important details based on context. Say you ask for breakfast suggestions, and it gives you something with...

The Galaxy A06 was also spotted on Geekbench, and reports showed that it will be the same as the F06, but both will arrive at different markets to limit any chance of competition. Samsung Galaxy A06, F06, F16, and M16 support pages Samsung is also expected to rebrand the Galaxy F16 and M16 duo...
iPhone SE 4 breaks cover in new video
Earlier this month, we saw product dummy units of the upcoming iPhone SE 4, which confirmed the phone’s design. Tipster Majin Bu has now shared a video showing the upcoming iPhone's design in a live video. Here's what the iPhone SE 4 looks like pic.twitter.com/pEyIAJ34VR— Majin Bu (@MajinBuOfficial) January 25, 2025 We can see the fourth-gen SE will feature a design that’s a mix between several iPhone generations. The back looks like the previous two iPhone SE generations with a single rear camera and LED flash in the top right corner. The sides and front are mostly in line with the...

Top 10 trending phones of week 4
There will be no prizes for guessing which series dominates our trending chart this week. With the Galaxy S25 Ultra rising to the top a few years ago and the Galaxy Unpacked dominating the headlines over the past seven days everyone is busy studying the new Samsung lineup. The Ultra ended up on top, followed by the vanilla Galaxy S25 in second. And if you thought the S25+ made it a clean podium sweep you were wrong - rather it was last year's S24 Ultra in third. [#InlinePriceWidget, 13322, 1#] In fact, the Galaxy S25 Edge, which was only teased, also got more attention than the...
WhatsApp for iPhone could soon get multi-account support
WhatsApp rolled out multi-account support for Android users in October 2023, allowing people to simultaneously use two different WhatsApp accounts on the same smartphone, eliminating the need to use the app clone feature or rely on the WhatsApp Business app trick. This feature is unavailable for iPhone users, but that should change soon. The folks at WABetaInfo report that WhatsApp is testing multi-account support for iPhone, which should allow iPhone users to use WhatsApp on their phones with two different numbers at the same time. The feature should work on iPhones similarly to Android...
Samsung Galaxy S25 series hot take
Samsung's first Unpacked of the year is arguably its most important event yet. It set the tone for much of the smartphone market in the first half of 2025 and introduces Samsung's flagship for the year, the Galaxy S25 Ultra. The Galaxy S25 and S25+ tagged along, which is probably the highest praise we could give them. Oh, and Samsung teased a Galaxy S25 Edge and while it's featuring around four edges, it has little to do with its legendary namesakes. So without further ado, here's our hot take on the series. One UI 7 is great, AI finally looks appealing The first half hour of...

Samsung hints that an optical blood glucose sensor might be closer than we think
Non-invasive blood glucose measurement is one of the so-called “holy grails” of modern health tracking. Samsung just recently held the Galaxy Tech Forum in San Jose, California. During the conference, Samsung’s Senior Vice President and Head of the Digital Health Team at Mobile eXperience Business, Dr. Hon Pak, elaborated on the company’s work on the hard task. What I’m really excited about is our team, as you may have assumed, we are working on a non-invasive optically-based continuous glucose monitor. I can’t tell you the time [of the launch], but I’m very excited about the progress we...
Galaxy A56, A36 and A26 get TUV Rheinland certification, hinting at imminent release
It is hardly a surprise that Samsung is working on a new generation of Galaxy A phones. As far as we know, the Galaxy A56, A36 and A26 will be unveiled sometime in the middle of March. All three phones were spotted in the TUV Rheinland certification database. Unfortunately, the source isn't particularly rich in information. It does reveal all of the model numbers for each handset. The Galaxy A56 will be available as the SM-A566B/DS, SM-A566B, SM-A566E/DS, and SM-A566E. The Galaxy A36 will carry the model numbers SM-A366B, SM-A336B/DS, SM-A366E, SM-A366E/DS, SM-A366U, SM-A366U1, SM-A366W,...

We posted a pricing breakdown a few days ago, but let’s have another look at those prices, what retailers are offering and what alternatives there are. First off, Samsung.com has the traditional free storage upgrade, getting you to 256GB on the Galaxy S25 and to 512GB on the Galaxy S25+ and S25 Ultra. Additionally, you can trade in an old device to reduce the price and you will be getting Samsung Credit to spend on more stuff. As a reminder, if you pre-reserved a unit, you will have $50 additional...

New Realme 14x variant launched in Malaysia
The Realme 14x made its debut in India last month as the international version of the China-exclusive Realme V60 Pro. Realme has now announced a slightly altered 14x variant in Malaysia, featuring a smaller 5,000 mAh battery with 15W charging and IP64 dust and water resistance instead of the IP68/IP69 certification on the Indian version. Realme 14x (Malaysia) gets a smaller 5,000 mAh battery The rest of the spec sheet is identical between the two devices with a 6.67-inch IPS LCD (HD+ 120Hz), Dimensity 6300 chipset, a 50MP main cam and an 8MP selfie cam. The “new” 14x also boots...
Sony WH-1000XM6 noise canceling headphones pass through the FCC
Sony launched the WH-1000XM5 (such a lovely name, isn't it?) over-the-ear noise canceling headphones back in May of 2022, and believe it or not, that's almost three years ago. So if you've been patiently waiting for the successor to show up, it looks like it's finally on its way. The WH-1000XM6 (seriously great naming!) has the model number YY2984 and what appear to be removable earpads along with a redesigned hinge. That could amp up the longevity of this set, since in theory Sony could offer replacement earpads if yours break. Or it could sell various colors of earpads separately...
Tata buys Pegatron's iPhone making plant in India
Tata Electronics has acquired a 60% stake in Pegatron's iPhone manufacturing plant in India. Back in March last year, Tata also bought Wistron's operations in India, so it's clearly serious about becoming a big player in electronics manufacturing in India. The acquisition of the controlling stake in Pegatron Technology India has been cleared by the Competition Commission of India. Following the acquisition, Pegatron India will undergo a rebranding to align with the new ownership structure. Tata has already been operating an iPhone assembly plant in Karnataka, acquired via the...
Google Identity Check will help protect your accounts in case of device theft
Last year, Google introduced several theft protection features for Android, including Theft Detection Lock, Offline Device Lock and Remote Lock. Identity Check is the latest security feature that aims to prevent thieves from accessing your digital accounts in case of theft. The feature will require biometric authentication for certain device settings when you are not in a trusted location. If your device is outside one of these locations, you will need to authenticate using your biometrics. This will prevent thieves from changing your device PIN, biometrics, turning off Find My Device,...

Nothing amps up its teaser campaign for an upcoming product
Yesterday Nothing wanted to steal some of Samsung's spotlight, and so it unleashed a cryptic Pokémon teaser. Today, Nothing is back at it, this time outing multiple pictures showing... something. WIP 📱 pic.twitter.com/L3c5K356W0— Nothing (@nothing) January 23, 2025 To be more precise, we get a lot of white-on-black scribbles. These probably depict an upcoming Nothing product, but what it is is anyone's guess. pic.twitter.com/GUSBR0i0hU— Nothing (@nothing) January 23, 2025 Sure, upon first glance, this could be the back of a new smartphone, sporting Nothing's trademark...
Samsung Wallet will get peer-to-peer payments, buy now pay later
The Samsung Wallet app is getting some new functionality later this year. First off, it will support peer-to-peer payments. This will be called Tap to Transfer, and will let you transfer money to a different device by tapping that one and yours together. Think of it like Apple's Tap to Cash, but for Android and with support for third-party digital wallets built-in. This will work because it will be linked to the associated debit card or account, not to your Samsung Wallet. So the transaction itself will be handled through Mastercard and Visa. Next up, Instant Installment - Samsung's...
ByteDance board member believes there’s a possibility to retain TikTok ownership without divesting
ByteDance currently has until April 5, 2025 to divest its stake in TikTok to a US-based company as per US President Donald Trump’s executive order from earlier this week. While the app is still available to use freely in the US, it’s been removed from the App Store and Google Play. There are plenty of suitors ready to buy TikTok but one ByteDance board member believes there’s still a chance for a solution that does not involve selling the social media app. Bill Ford, who serves as chairman and CEO of General Atlantic equity firm and is also a member of ByteDance's board of directors,...
Samsung Galaxy S25 series has support for seamless updates
The rumors were true - Samsung's flagship smartphone line finally supports seamless updates, with the release of the Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25+, and Galaxy S25 Ultra. The Korean company has been a holdout for many, many years, and finally implemented the functionality in the Galaxy A55 last year. We assume that was meant to test the waters, and apparently everything has been fine with the A55, so now the feature finally made its way to the S line. What "seamless updates" means is that your device will be unavailable to use for less time when it's updating. That's because the update is...

Xiaomi 15 gets a very red new colorway to celebrate Chinese New Year
The Xiaomi 15 launched back in October in China in black, white, silver, green, and lilac, and today there's a new colorway out. It's red, very much so in fact, as you can see from the images below. This colorway is meant to celebrate the Chinese New Year, which takes place on January 29. It's China's biggest festival and, thus, quite a big deal. Xiaomi 15 in red The red model comes with a black frame, which looks great since the rectangular-ish camera island is also black-ish. As you'd expect, the specs have stayed the same - this is just a new color. Xiaomi 15 in...
Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra's Gorilla Armor 2 survives drops on concrete from 2.2m
The Galaxy S25 family has been announced today, and Gorilla Glass maker Corning has now made its Gorilla Armor 2 official. This is used by the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra. Compared to the original Gorilla Armor featured in the Galaxy S24 Ultra, the second-generation combines even better toughness with excellent clarity thanks to its anti-reflective properties, which "dramatically reduce surface reflections in both indoor and outdoor ambient settings", Corning says. Furthermore, the anti-reflective properties "can enhance the display contrast ratio", "in various lighting conditions"....
Here is the Samsung Galaxy S25 series pricing breakdown
As the excitement from the big event dies down, it’s time to look at the cost of owning a new S25 series flagship. You can also compare with the Galaxy S24 series price breakdown that we posted last year. We went over all the changes and improvements done to the Galaxy S25 and S25+, as well as the Galaxy S25 Ultra upgrades. For a more detailed look at the new flagships, head over to our Galaxy S25 series hands-on review. We don’t have pricing info from all markets yet, but most have kept things on the same level as last year – the S25 models cost the same as their S24 predecessors did...
Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge hands-on
At the end of its Unpacked event today, Samsung teased the upcoming Galaxy S25 Edge, also known as the Galaxy S25 Slim in the rumor mill until today. We were at Samsung's event in San Jose, California, and were fortunate enough to have a close encounter with the Galaxy S25 Edge. So, ladies and gentlemen, feast your eyes upon it! And do note that there's absolutely no official information about its specs yet. Let's start with stating the obvious. It's very thin. Samsung hasn't shared any numbers officially, but it's clear that thinness will be its main selling point. From the...

CR: vivo was the boss in the Chinese market in 2024, Huawei ruled Q4
Last week Canalys released its 2024 smartphone shipment numbers for China, and today Counterpoint Research (CR) has done the same. The numbers are quite different, though. While vivo led with a 17.8% market share for the year, and Huawei was in second place with 16.3%, the third place in CR's report is occupied by Xiaomi with 15.7% of the pie, not Apple. Apple is fourth with 15.5%, followed by Honor with 15% and Oppo with 14.3%. Xiaomi wasn't even in Canalys' Top 5, so we're not sure what's going on here. Either way, vivo led in shipments for the full year - that's pretty much a...
Samsung's Good Lock gets a redesign
Good Lock, the app you can use to customize Samsung smartphones even more than the Settings menu usually allows, is getting a new coat of paint just in time for the official launch of One UI 7 alongside the Galaxy S25 family tomorrow. Good Lock's redesign is in line with One UI 7's redesign, unsurprisingly, and it arrives with version 3.0.10.1 of the app. Good Lock now has a list view, and a larger bottom tab area with three icons. There's also a new search tool, and a built-in chatbot which will guide you through using the app. You also get some neat wallpapers and two new widgets...
Xiaomi 15 Ultra will get a global launch, exec confirms
Xiaomi's 14 Ultra was unveiled in China last February, only a few short days before making its global debut at MWC in Barcelona. If you've been wondering whether its successor, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra, will also be officially available globally, the answer is yes and it comes straight from Lu Weibing, Xiaomi Group Partner and President. He unveiled the news in a video Q&A with Chinese fans of the brand. Lu also revealed that the 15 Ultra will be made official after the Chinese New Year, which in 2025 falls on January 29. Note that until February 4 there is a public holiday in China, so no...

Here's when Samsung is launching its tri-fold smartphone
Samsung is almost ready to take on Huawei's tri-fold Mate XT. We've already heard that the Korean company is working on such a device, which will unfold in a different way, thus protecting the flexible screen when it's folded. The device is said to be limited to around 200,000 units, and today a new report from Korea tells us when to expect it to launch. It will apparently arrive in the third quarter of the year, so at some point between July and September. This timeline lines up perfectly with Samsung's yearly foldable device launch, so the tri-fold device could be introduced...
Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra could have a massively upgraded periscope telephoto camera
200 MP periscope telephoto cameras are becoming really popular with Chinese smartphone makers, after the introduction on the vivo X100 Ultra and the subsequent use of the same module on the X200 Pro. And out of five super-flagships coming this year from China, three will employ such a camera. The good news for Samsung fans is that the Korean company is now said to have begun the evaluation process for using a 200 MP periscope telephoto camera, with a 1/1.5-inch type sensor (ever so slightly smaller than the 1/1.4-inch type vivo uses). Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra If Samsung decides on...
Samsung Galaxy S25 Slim to only be sold in these countries
Last week a rumor claimed that the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S25 Slim would "almost certainly not be offered through US carriers". And today a new rumor brings us the purported list of countries and regions where the S25 Slim will be available. It's not a short list, as it has 39 places on it, but it's very short compared to where Samsung will sell the other three members of the Galaxy S25 family. So, if you've been eyeing the slimmer S25, here's where you'll be able to buy it: Afghanistan, Australia, Austria, Brazil, Croatia, Egypt, France, India, Iraq, Ireland, Israel, Kazakhstan, Kenya,...
Instagram announces Edits, its CapCut rival
TikTok wasn’t the only high-profile app banned in the US recently, as fellow ByteDance video editing app CapCut also went dark. Meta wasted no time capitalizing on the situation and announced its own free video editor for creators called Edits. The app is currently on pre-order in the US App Store and is expected to go live next month. Instagram head Adam Mosseri also confirmed that an Android version is “coming soon”. Edits app interface Edits allows users to capture and edit footage for vertical-style videos, which can then be posted on any platform. If you choose to...
TikTok is live again in the US after 13 hours in the dark
TikTok users in the United States can celebrate as their beloved app is back online. 170 million Americans were greeted on Sunday with the news of the app's ban, and upon opening it, they encountered a pop-up indicating that the law prohibiting TikTok has been put into effect. After 13 hours, the app reported that it was working on restoring services and expressed gratitude to President Trump for offering "the necessary clarity and assurance" that the company will not face penalties if it continued its operations. Notifications from TikTok app during ban and after ban President...
