Samsung "Galaxy Fold6 Special Edition" release date leaks

Samsung's slimmer book-style foldable has been rumored to go by Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition, and it was supposedly going to launch on September 25. That obviously hasn't happened, but we do have some launch-related news. Maybe. A Korean retailer has apparently outed the pre-order and release time frame for the Samsung Galaxy Fold6 Special Edition - not the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition, mind you. This may be a typo, it may be the actual commercial name of the device, or it could just be all made up. Do keep that in mind while you read the rest, as the page in question also isn't...

Epic Games is suing Google and Samsung for gatekeeping access to third-party app stores

Over a month after Fortnite made its triumphant return to Android (worldwide) and iOS (in Europe) via the Epic Games Store, Epic is filing a new lawsuit against Google and Samsung in the Northern District of California. The new antitrust lawsuit alleges a coordinated effort between Google and Samsung to undermine third-party app stores like the Epic Games Store via Samsung’s “Auto Blocker” setting. That feature was the main reason why Epic removed its entire game library from the Galaxy Store back in July. Auto Blocker restricts devices running One UI 6.1.1 and up from sideloading...

Oppo officially teases its line of MagSafe accessories for Find X8 series and iPhones

Oppo's upcoming Find X8 series will support magnetic accessories, and in fact the company is preparing an entire ecosystem of them to launch alongside the phones next month. An Oppo exec has shared some of the accessories the company is preparing through a short video on Weibo, which we've added below. As you can see, the magnetic accessories work with Oppo devices but also work flawlessly with iPhones, and this will probably make them a very interesting proposition for a lot of people buying a Find X8, but who have iPhones in their families - or even use an iPhone as...

Take a look at the Google Pixel 9a in all its glory

Google's Pixel 9 series may be quite crowded already, with the Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro XL, and Pixel 9 Pro Fold, but it's not complete. Not yet, anyway. There's one more member that needs to join, and that's the Pixel 9a. This will be the successor to the Pixel 8a which launched back in May, and today a bunch of CAD-based renders of the 9a have been outed for your viewing pleasure. The Pixel 9a is expected to launch in the spring, so there's still plenty of time to wait until its debut. While the overall design of the phone does scream "Pixel!", there is, as you have...

Samsung Galaxy S24 FE teardown offers a glimpse at the supposedly larger vapor chamber

Samsung unveiled the Galaxy S24 FE last week. The 2024 model features a larger display (6.7” vs. 6.4”), a new chipset (Exynos 2400e) with a vapor chamber that is “1.1x larger” and a higher capacity battery (4,700mAh vs. 4,500mAh). We can have a closer look at some of these hidden components in this teardown video. With the glass back removed, the layout is very similar to the S23 FE. A heat spreader on the motherboard hides one of the major changes this generation – a version of the Exynos 2400, replacing the Exynos 2200/Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 that was inside the 2023 phone. A graphite film...

Bye-bye Nokia? HMD delists Nokia smartphones across European markets

Earlier this year, HMD entered a new phase of its development and dropped its Nokia branding for smartphones in favor of its own HMD-branded devices. HMD continued to offer Nokia-branded smartphones, feature phones, and tablets for the past months, but it seems supplies for those have come to an end, at least in Europe. No Nokia smaretphones in sight on HMD.com/UK You won't find Nokia-branded devices on most of the official HMD websites in the Old Continent but Nokia devices are still present across HMD’s storefronts in Asia, Africa and the Middle East, Australia and New Zealand,...

The iPhone 16 Pro Max's reign came to an end in week 39, the newly announced Redmi Note 14 Pro+ shooting straight to the top of our trending chart. Apple's new flagship still came in second, ready to return, should the hype around the announcement fade. The top 3 is then completed by another of the newly announced Redmi phones - the Note 14. [#InlinePriceWidget, 13123, 1#] The third member of the new trio, Redmi Note 14 Pro came in fourth, while Samsung's latest smartphone - the Galaxy S24 FE ended up fifth. Samsung's Galaxy A55 is down to sixth, while the Galaxy S24 Ultra slid...

Weekly poll results: the Tecno Phantom V Fold2 and V Flip2 show promise

The results from last week’s poll are in and Tecno’s new foldables are doing pretty well. However, there is a lot riding on reviews as getting the thumbs up can double the popularity of the new V-foldables. The Tecno Phantom V Fold2 drew criticism for reusing the Dimensity 9000+ chipset from its predecessor. On the plus side, Tecno managed to keep the price lower than competing horizontal foldables and brought a major battery upgrade this generation (+750mAh capacity and faster charging). The Tecno Phantom V Flip2 does have a different chipset from its predecessor, but it’s not an...

Deals: Samsung Galaxy S24 FE pre-orders start, but there are better offers to consider

Samsung unveiled the Galaxy S24 FE this week, alongside two premium tablets. But is any one of them actually worth it? Let’s look at the phone first. The Samsung Galaxy S24 FE starts at $650 and you can get up to $400 worth of trade-in credit. Additionally, you can pick up other FE gadgets, the Galaxy Watch FE and Galaxy Buds FE, at half price. We will have a look at the accessories in a moment. The FE will receive 7 OS updates and 7 years of security patches. Will a device with 8GB of RAM and 128GB storage still be usable in 7 years? Who knows, Android is not as slim as it once was and...

iOS 18 feature walkthrough on iPhone 16

Apple iPhone 16, 16 Plus, 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max come with the latest available Apple iOS 18 pre-installed. While Apple tried to present this new iteration as one of the biggest redesigns, it doesn't feel that big in day-to-day use. However, allowing for deep personalization options across the homescreens and interface does have the potential to make the UI rather unique and different, something which has been lacking on iOS through the years. All iPhones will get at least five years of iOS updates, which has been an Apple thing for years. Apple iOS 18 introduces advanced personalization...

Huawei Mate 70 Pro appears in a live image with five rear cameras

Huawei launched the Mate 60 Pro last year in August, and if the brand follows a similar timeline for its successor, the Mate 70 Pro should go official next month. We haven't heard anything from Huawei about the Mate 70 Pro's launch yet, but its live image has surfaced online, corroborating a previous design leak of the Mate 70 Pro sporting a circular camera island. The source says that the Huawei Mate 70 Pro pictured in the image below is held by a company executive. It features five rear cameras, and the screen will be curved on all sides. The phone's design is concealed with a...

Honor teases its toughest phone yet

Last year Honor launched its Honor X9b midranger which offers several drop protection features. One of them was the “Ultra-Bounce Anti-Drop Display” which featured shock-absorbing material which Honor claimed could provide a drop resistance of up to 1.5m. Honor Malaysia is now teasing a new tougher device which should be the upcoming Honor X9c. While we don’t get an actual look at the phone, the teasers clearly hint at the device’s name and its structural integrity. X9c should be priced in the midrange segment like its predecessor. We'll make sure to update you with more details when...

nubia Z60S Pro battery life test results are here

The nubia Z60S Pro is strikingly similar to last year's Z50S Pro model, so we focused on some key tests to see if something changed. The two devices are basically the same. nubia introduced some minor tweaks to the main 35mm camera of the phone, with the Z60S Pro featuring a slightly larger sensor. The manufacturer is also adding new AI features, including Magic Eraser, a star sky algorithm and a 65:24 ultra-wide cinema format. Hardware-wise, there is just another relatively small difference between the two devices – the chipset. It turns out that for whatever reason, the newer...

Samsung Galaxy S24 FE unboxing video leaks along with US pricing

Samsung's Galaxy S24 FE was supposedly coming next month, according to a past rumor, then last week we heard it could drop this week, but that hasn't happened yet. In the meantime, the phone just keeps on leaking, as it's been doing for quite a long time now. An official unboxing video has been outed by legendary leakster Evan Blass over on X. It confirms the spartan box, also the fact that it's black cardboard. You aren't getting a charger, but hopefully by this point you weren't expecting one anyway. Mediatek is expected to release the Dimensity 9400 chipset next month. It will have the Immortalis-G925 graphics unit by Arm, which the Taiwanese company claims will be "the highest performing, most efficient GPU to date." Recent benchmarks confirmed this might be true regarding raw power. The GPU scored 134 fps in the GFX Aztec 1440p off-screen Vulkan benchmark, which is much higher than the 72 fps on the Apple A18 Pro and the 95 fps on last year's Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. The Aztec test is part of the GFXBench suite, designed to simulate an intensive 3D game-like environment and push...

Top 10 trending phones of week 38

Apple's iPhone 16 Pro Max extended its streak on top of our chart in week 38, but its siblings didn't do so well in the second week of their existence, giving other phones in our database a better chance to shine. [#InlinePriceWidget, 13123, 1#] Huawei Mate XT Ultimate ended up second, ahead of the vanilla iPhone 16. Samsung's Galaxy S24 Ultra came in fourth with the Galaxy A55 climbing back up to fifth. The iPhone 16 Pro fell to sixth position, just ahead of the Redmi Note 13 Pro. We then have the Galaxy A15 and the iPhone 15 Pro Max, which kept its place in the top 10,...

Galaxy S25 Ultra is thin all around, iOS 18 is out, Week 38 in review

The Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra is the hottest story this week. We learned that it will be thinner than the Galaxy S24 Ultra at 8.2mm and that it will have thinner side bezels too - enough to outdo Apple's latest iPhone 16 Pro Max. We also learned the battery capacities of the S25 series - a 4,900mAh unit in the S25+ matches its predecessor, the S25 will have the same 4,000mAh unit as its predecessor, and unsurprisingly, the S25 Ultra will match the S24 Ultra's 5,000mAh unit. Samsung Galaxy S25, S25 Ultra thickness confirmed by...

Deals: the new Apple iPhone 16 models are now available

The iPhone 16 series went on sale this Friday with brand new Camera Control and Action Button, plus new ultra wide cameras – quadruple the resolution (48MP) for the Pros and autofocus for the vanilla models. And, of course, Apple Intelligence AI for all four, but that one isn’t ready yet – it should be enabled in the UK next year. The Apple iPhone 16 is the base model, still with a 6.1” display. The new controls and the Apple A18 (coupled with two extra gigs of RAM) are the key upgrades here. And, yes, the ultra wide camera has a macro mode now. ...

Weekly poll results: it's a bad start for the iPhone 16 series as people look for alternatives

Things aren’t going the way Apple was hoping. Before September, analysts reported that Apple would be building more iPhone 16 phones, mostly upping the number of Pro models produced. Now that the first week of pre-orders is done, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo compiled data that shows that pre-orders are down and it’s mostly the fault of the two Pro models (the iPhone 16 and 16 Plus numbers actually went up!). Let’s look at the results from last week’s poll to try and figure out what went wrong. Apple didn’t increase the prices, which was great to see. The higher charge rates over USB-C and MagSafe...

The Tecno Pop 9 5G will be powered by the Dimensity 6300 SoC and have two configurations - 4GB/64GB and 4GB/128GB. It will feature a 120Hz punch-hole display and pack a 5,000 mAh battery with 18W charging...

Here's how fast the Galaxy S25 and Galaxy S25+ will charge

Samsung's Galaxy S25 and Galaxy S25+ are expected to be unveiled in January, and they are currently on a very slow march through various regulatory authorities across the world, receiving certifications. The 3C certification in China has today revealed a pretty disappointing fact. Both of these phones will have the exact same maximum charging levels as their predecessors. So, the Galaxy S25 will charge at up to 25W, while the Galaxy S25+ will go up to 45W. That's via USB-C, of course. Wireless charging speed isn't revealed through the 3C certification unfortunately, so we'll have to...

Google trolls Apple on its late adoption of RCS in new video ad

The latest ad in the #BestPhonesForever series is now out, and Google is once again trolling Apple. Or rather, to be specific, a Pixel is trolling an iPhone. They are #BestPhonesForever, and Google is using this format to mock Apple's mobile devices in various ways. This time around, it's about RCS. The messaging standard has finally been adopted by Apple with the release of iOS 18 earlier this week, following years of pressure from Google. So now iPhones and Android devices can finally share high quality images and videos with each other via texts. This, of course, is mainly...

Samsung Galaxy S24 FE and Tab S10 series to be unveiled next week, maybe

With all the recent leaks, you may have been wondering when to expect Samsung's Galaxy S24 FE and Tab S10 series to finally become official. A while back we heard that this would happen in October, but earlier today Samsung's arm in Vietnam mistakenly uploaded a video to YouTube where it announced an unveiling event for September 26, which is next Thursday. The devices were even slated to then go on sale within hours of the launch ending. So that seems pretty much settled then, but there is a twist. The video has been made private, which means it was either uploaded too soon, or Samsung...

iPhone 17 family to have big display upgrades

The iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Slim (which will replace the Plus model since it's not selling well at all), iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max will all come with significant display upgrades next year, according to Ross Young of Display Supply Chain Consultants. Young says the iPhone 17 will finally get 120 Hz refresh rate and an LTPO OLED panel, meaning it will be able to vary the refresh rate down to very low rates, possibly even 1 Hz. This has been a very long time coming, since Apple still, even with the iPhone 16 family, gatekeeps high refresh rate for the Pro models. Alongside the...

Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold wired charging support officially confirmed and it's disappointing

If you've been wondering why our testing revealed the fact that the Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold takes a whopping one hour and 36 minutes to fully charge, the answer is quite simple - but not great news. It turns out that the Pixel 9 Pro Fold has the slowest wired charging support of all Pixel 9s. It tops out at just 21W. This unfortunate number has finally been confirmed directly by Google today. So with that context in mind, it's no surprise that the search giant's second foldable smartphone takes so long to charge. If you're wondering why Google would pull something like this,...

DJI Osmo Action 5 Pro arrives with 4-hour battery life, 13.5-stop dynamic range

GoPro's Hero 13 Black has some real competition now in the form of DJI's newly announced Action 5 Pro. DJI advertises a "groundbreaking" 13.5-stop dynamic range and four-hour battery life from its 1,950 mAh battery. Even at -20° C (-4°F), it can record for up to 3.6 hours. Compare all of these numbers to the "industry average for action camera battery life" of 2 hours, and you'll definitely be impressed. What's more, if you use DJI's 30W USB-C charger you can get 2 hours of shooting from a 15-minute charge. The camera has a 1/1.3" sensor with 2.4 μm pixel size. It can shoot 4K video at...

Oppo Find X8 and Find X8 Pro's earliest announcement date revealed

Oppo is introducing ColorOS 15 on October 17 with - you guessed it - a focus on AI. And if you were wondering when the company's next flagship smartphone line would be getting official, we now sort of have an answer. According to Digital Chat Station over on Weibo, the Find X8 and Find X8 Pro could be unveiled as soon as October 21. Not sooner than that, it seems. But it's reasonable to assume it could be later. Not much later, since Chinese companies are all competing with each other to launch new flagship products as soon as possible each year. Oppo Find X7 Ultra The Find X8 and...

Apple Intelligence is finally unleashed thanks to iOS 18.1 public beta

It's finally here - sort of. Following the disappointing launch of iOS 18 on Monday without any Apple Intelligence features, today these have finally become available to the regular, non-developer public. But only if you are willing to try out iOS 18.1 (or iPadOS 18.1), as its first public beta has now come out following a period of developer-only testing. Keep in mind that the beta might have plenty of issues and bugs, so it's generally not recommended to install on your main device. If you do want to try your luck, then you need to go to Settings > General > Software Update, tap the info...

Sony 1000XM5 headphones get pink versions

Not long ago Beats decided to Kardashianize the Studo Pro headphones with some new colors, and today - coincidence or not - Sony is following suit. Only there's no Kim Kardashian here, and we're only getting one new color, not three. Both the WH-1000XM5 over-ear headphones and the WF-1000XM5 true wireless earbuds are now being offered in pink. This seems to be true across regions, but the exact name of the new colorway will vary by locale for some reason. Rest assured that it is, however, the exact same pink everywhere. The products are identical in every other respect...

Samsung Galaxy A56 is in the works with huge performance boost

Samsung has started working on the Galaxy A56 months ago, presumably, but it's only now that we get our first proof of the matter via a listing in an IMEI database. The Galaxy A56 appears with its model number SM-A566B/DS. For reference, an A55 variation had the model number SM-A556B/DS, so things are clear here. Interestingly, Samsung's Exynos 1580 chipset, which should be at the helm of the Galaxy A56 when it launches, will bring a significant performance boost compared to its predecessor. In fact, according to a Geekbench run from July, the Exynos 1580 is around the performance...

Moto G75 leaks in two colors

Motorola's mid-range G line is in the middle of a refresh, and one of the still-upcoming devices is the Moto G75, which has been leaked today in two colors. Some of its specs have also been outed. The G75 will be IP68 certified for dust and water resistance, and it will also have "military grade durability". Its main camera will use Sony's Lytia 600 sensor with OIS, while the screen will be a 6.8-inch FHD+ one. The G75 will have "powerfully efficient Snapdragon performance" (whatever that means) and Dolby Atmos support. Moto G75 leaked renders Those are all the spec details...

Android 15 release date leaks

Google has already sent the Android 15 code to the Android Open Source Project (AOSP), but it hasn't released an update for its supported Pixels yet. That has been rumored to arrive next month, and today we finally have a purported release date. According to a new report, Google will start the over-the-air rollout of the Android 15 update for Pixels on October 15. This report also comes with the caveat that things could still change from now until then, especially if some show-stopping bugs are found in the meantime.
